Our Story

The idea for the Queralyze was born during a college Introduction to Philosophy class. James, a former high school debater, finished a paper during class on the day it was assigned.  James and his friend, also a debater, breezed through the assignment while fellow classmates were struggling to understand how to even get started.

James realized that his debate experience had benefits he hadn’t considered.  He knew debating had sharpened his critical thinking and analytical skills, but he had taken his writing skills for granted. He started to imagine that a version of his debate experience might really benefit other students.

During a trip home, James visited a former high school teacher/debate coach.  As James explained his new idea, his teacher shared the educator perspective and, together, they started to refine the elements that would solve challenges for both the teacher and the student.

Six months later, James introduced Steve to his concept. Steve, the father of a fellow high school debater, is a graduate school professor, has extensive experience in education and technology, and understands the power of debate to help refine skills.  Steve became James’ counterbalance while they went through a discovery phase and built a prototype.

The rest, as they say, is start-up history.
